NICOLE CARON

ABOUT
Nicole Caron is the author of THE KING OF ORANGES, a dual-timeline historical novel spanning 1880s New York and 1970s Florida, completed in December 2025 after fifteen years of research and writing. Her work explores themes of authenticity, acceptance, and inheritance, through the lens of stories families tell themselves across generations.
A passionate reader who savors 75+ books annually, Nicole's literary sensibility draws from the lineage of twentieth-century American writers. Think Hemingway's spare, elegant sentences. Didion's exacting, precise language. Steinbeck's sweeping sagas. Baldwin's emotion. Welty's moving characterizations.
For Nicole, the novel form demands patience, deep research, and attention to the architecture of time. To quote poet Mary Oliver: "Things take the time they take. Don't worry."
Nicole's nonfiction has appeared in The Anchorage Daily News, Brevity, Creative Pinellas and Artisan Magazine, among others. She lives in Florida and has taught first-year writing at Ringling College of Art + Design since 2009, where she works with artists and designers developing their written voices.
